Rain as God’s tears.
This imagery, pulled from the song “18 Bullet Holes” by Waterdeep, inspired this new piece. I made it after returning home from a spiritual retreat, where I’d been staying in a tiny, sparsely decorated studio apartment. I photographed a crucifix on the wall there and later layered the image digitally with a duo-tone wash of green and magenta.
The photo print, on linen paper, is adhered to a 10×14 arch canvas with acrylic, then layered with holographic confetti stars and hand-drawn Posca raindrops. Intentionally unframed and ready to hang.
For anyone who knows how hard it can be to love, especially in the loss of someone woven into your life and story. The love was worth it. But the loss really hurts. And God knows that feeling and understands it.
$375. Original mixed-media painting, one of a kind.
