Stones

I am trying to write a poem every week based on the Revised Common Lectionary readings for that particular Sunday. Today is Easter 5 Year A and the readings can be found at the links below:

• Acts 7:55-60

• 1 Peter 2:2-10

• John 14:1-14

• Psalm 31:1-5, 15-16

A stack of river stones or a cairn by a river

Living stones alive

can be built into a home for flourishing,

but dead stones can kill.

Let yourself be built

like a newborn baby

allows herself to be carried.

Then, may we grow up into

the way, the truth, and life,

whom we’ve already savored as good.
